Senior Adult trip to New Mexico September 23, 2010

Our seniors had a great time visiting our own Aspendale Camp in the beautiful Sacramento mountains of New Mexico, near Cloudcroft. 

We chartered a bus and took 46 of our Prime Timers for this great event.

This was the first time this kind of program had been scheduled for the camp.  All of the El Paso Baptist Association churches were invited and almost 100 people attended!The weather was absolutely perfect.  Many of the seniors from First Baptist had never seen the camp, which has been in operation since the late 1950's, so this was a great opportunity for them to view the many ministry opportunities in person.

The program included the leadership of Pastor Bill Fuller from Scotsdale Baptist Church, a challenge from EPBA leader Dr. Joseph Christopherson, vision-casting from Camp Director J Hammond, and guest speaker Pastor James Stephen from Sonora, Texas. 

Wonderful music was also provided by a ladies' ensemble from Scotsdale and Rev. Stephen's wife, Betty.We enjoyed a wonderful BBQ lunch together at noon.
After lunch, the group participated in groundbreaking for a new dining hall, to be constructed this fall and winter (weather permitting).  The previous dining facility has succumbed to many years of snow loading on the roof and collapsed last winter.

The Prime Timers had a wonderful trip together.  Not only did they hear stirring challenges from the speakers and share fellowship together, they received a vision for what God is doing and will do in the future through the work of Aspendale Camp.  We hope this event will become an annual tradition for EPBA.
